10 Ways To Be Mindful Today

With everything going on around us, it's more important now than ever that we make sure we are taking care of ourselves, honoring our boundaries and recharging to avoid burn out. 

We invite you to slip in simple acts of mindfulness here and there throughout your day to help ground and center you. These acts are simple but provide that necessary reminder to pause, breathe and re-center.

1.) Take five minutes in the morning before you start your day to reflect on three things you're grateful for.

2.) Mindful eating. Chew slowly, really savor what you're eating, and be present. Even if only for a few minutes, put away the phone, TV or any distraction.

3.) Repeat your favorite mantra to set the intention on how you want your day to go. Need one to start? We like "I am open to and grateful for all the goodness that will come my way today".

4.) Wear your absolute favorite piece of clothing or accessory. Sometimes when we need a little pick-me-up, expressing our authentic selves in our appearance can boost our confidence and how we feel about ourselves.

5.) Step outside! Take a moment or two to really observe your surroundings, especially if you're surrounded in nature. Observe how the sunlight is hitting the bushes, flowers or trees around. Maybe you're near the water, close your eyes and take in the sounds of waves or birds. 

6.) Deep breathing exercises. Practicing deep breathing consistently can help with ground us and calm any racing thoughts.

7.) Put down your phone. It's quite easy to become attached to every notification and ring/vibration our phones make. If you don't need it right this second, put it down or put it away and be without for as long as you'd like. Disconnect to be more present.

8.) Stretch! Stretching our bodies through out the day can help with releasing tension we may not even be aware we're holding. 

9.) Reserve time today to do your favorite thing. Reading, walking, napping, or creating, whatever your favorite activity may be, make sure you set aside time to honor the things you enjoy.

10.) Our favorite one, tell yourself you are proud of yourself today. Today you did the day, you showed up as much as you could and if you're reading this, that means you're still showing up for yourself too. Be proud of yourself for the big things and the little things.
